Wohlford Scholarship
Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering
Spring 2023
Student Experience |
“When I decided to pursue a chemical engineering degree, I was always asked why it was that I chose chemical engineering. I always gave a vague answer knowing that it was something that I wanted but never knew the specifics behind it. When I was given the opportunity to participate in a co-op program at Packaging Corporation of America in Counce, Tennessee, I was ecstatic. I was finally able to see classroom lessons translate to real-life applications. I was able to broaden my social network, gain valuable knowledge from supervisors on navigating workplaces, and work on processes that create our everyday items. Being granted the chance to participate in the co-op gave me the affirmation of my choice to become a chemical engineer. I know the experience that I gained from my co-op will better prepare me after graduation for the transition from classroom to industry. I want to give thanks for having the opportunity to participate in a co-op program and to receive the Wohlford Scholarship. It was a wonderful blessing that I will never forget and has changed my life for the better. This scholarship has given me the ability to continue my studies with peace of mind of my financial situation. I can now spend more time with family and friends while looking forward to what my future holds.” |
